 The number
"seven" holds special value in the spiritual traditions. For
example, in Judaism, the Hebrew word for "seven" is also the
same as the word for "oath," or "pledge." Seven sevens,
or 49, also has great significance.Forty nine
days elapsed between the Exodus and Revelation at Mt. Sinai. Kabbalah
teaches that there are 49 levels of spiritual elevation or spiritual degeneration.
Forty-nine years comprise the Jubilee, when all land returns to its original
owners, and slaves are freed.Buddhism
traditions believe that 49 days elapse between the death of one individual,
and their next reincarnation in human form. Forty-nine
days also is the time during human fetal development when the first signs
of the mysterious pineal gland appear, as well as the time in which it
is clear if the baby will be male or female. |
